Another stage of the Open City Data Portal project
We are starting another stage of the Open City Data Portal project, which involves the implementation of a tool to support the Open Data Portal. On April 6th, a contract was signed with the contractor for this part of the project, VOBACOM Sp. z o.o. based in Toruń. The contractor will work with the city to implement an electronic tool that complies with the description of the order.
The Open City Data Portal is a platform that provides access to information about the functioning of the city, such as data on public transport, traffic, cultural, tourist, or residential places. Thanks to this, every user can use this information, for example, by creating mobile applications or maps that facilitate orientation in the city, planning the route of travel, or searching for interesting places.
What are Open Data?
Open data is data that is publicly available, free of charge, and free from legal, technological, or other restrictions that would prevent their use, reuse, processing, or dissemination. The openness of data means that they are available to anyone who wants to use them, without the need to obtain special permission, licenses, or other formalities. Access to open data can be beneficial for various groups of users, including researchers, journalists, programmers, entrepreneurs, social activists, and public institutions. The openness of data increases the transparency of the activities of public institutions, facilitates decision-making, and allows the creation of new services and products, which can bring benefits both to society and the economy.
A few words about implementation in Przemyśl
The Open City Data Portal will provide users with reliable and up-to-date information, which allows for a better understanding of the functioning of the city, its needs, and opportunities. As a result, decision-makers, investors, social organizations, entrepreneurs, or ordinary residents have access to the knowledge necessary to make informed decisions and take action.
The City Team for Open City Data will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the published data resources. Its tasks will include, among others, selecting datasets and data resources for publication, as well as developing a strategy for the development of the Open City Data Portal in the coming years.
It is also worth mentioning that the Open City Data Portal is a tool that supports citizen participation and democracy. It enables residents to participate in the process of planning and managing the city by analyzing and discussing data and using it to create innovative solutions.
The "Open City Data Portal" project is financed under the project entitled "Together We Change Przemyśl" from external funds, 85% of which comes from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism for the years 2014-2021, and 15% from the state budget under the Local Development program.
